The Flu Bug has made landing

Well I have been at Carissa's side, it seems like for four days now. The poor little one has got the nasty flu. It certainly doesn't seem to be the 24 hour one as we are now starting day four. I have a few other family members who are also dealing with cold symtoms but it only seems to be Carissa who is being attacked by the flu. I have to tell you though, she is quite the trooper. She doesn't winne or cry at all. She just asks for what she needs and gets on with it. She has been up day and night and is still in pretty good humor( wish I could say that about me. She does nap a lot during the day though, thank goodness. I am really hoping that she starts to kick this thing and doesn't pass it on to someone else, though I have two others that think they maybe starting to feel funny. Time will tell, I guess.

Snow !!!! Winter!!! Cold!!!

Snow, Snow and more snow!!!! Well this has definitely been an old fashioned winter here on the island. We haven't seen snow storms and this much accumulation in a few years. We are now living out in the country and I can really see the difference as it blows across the fields. At times, the world just looks like one big sheet of white. I enjoy the clean look and the frosted trees but even these are starting to grow old. The road that we now live on is awful. It is so dangerous and has seen it's share of accidents this winter. I know of at least four and one of those claiming a life. Unfortunately a man and father, that I have known for many years.
I used to enjoy winter and the snow and all but now I must say, not so much anymore. I appreciate the first snowfall and a little around Christmas but really that is all. I am really looking forward to summer or at least spring. I love the sun and the heat. This old farm house is freezing and costing a fortune for the least amount of heat we can get away with. My DH just figured out from our last oil bill that we were spending $25.00 a day on oil. Does that make you shiver, it sure does for me. I think of all the places I could be enjoying spending that money. Not nice, just not nice!!!
Well with that being said, I am enjoying a snow day with most of my kiddos, who had the day off of school because of the weather.
The sliver lining or hope is the first day of spring is in 40 days. Yes, I am certainly counting and dreaming and pleating and begging for an early spring.
Spring if you can hear me, Please come early and warm me up. Have a great day :)
